Last time I was in Gozo I saw some dark violet-blue flower in a field from a distance, and I rushed in as I thought it was the rare Delphinium staphisagria, but to a certain disapointment it was just a Linaria cf triphylla. I though the colour form was unusually too dark and when I checked few floras, they describe the plant to have white and paler colours.
If you find some news in regards, let us know.

I am still puzzled on this population, but 2 differnt keys point to Linaria triphylla, which usually is paler. So far i have not found any subspecies or variety having darker colours, but I keep an eye on literature regarding this 'form'.
If it happen that you come across something like it on the net or books, let me know pls.

or L.t. f. karnivalensis
Just a piece of info, this was not just one specimen but there were hundreds of it. In the population I have not observed a single specimen with the normal lighter colours and these often have an almost whitish area at the periphery of the corolla lobes.
