I'm sorry for interrupting such beautiful posts in order to show such a dreaded beast as the one in this post.

This species belongs to the longhorned beetle, now to my knowledge these beetles are the cause for the decimation of the mulberry tree population in malta. Other species feed on fig trees and also on almond trees and the like. (Prunus)

Any ideas?

On this link, it gives a clue that the beetle affecting the Mulberries (and other trees such as Hawthorn and Citrus ) is Anoplophora chinensis but I am not sure if it is the same shown in your pics, becasue this has white markings!
