I found this grass in clay habitat over Gozo in 2006 and remained uncared for a long while (at that time I was not fond of Grasses yet) I have seen it again recentely in the same site and I noticed that it could be something interesting.
The leaves are rigid with a spiny tip, with sparse hair and edges turned up. The inflorescense is similar to Arundo. Often culms are prostrate on clay rather then erect! Very small plant, largest specimen less than 1 m.
