Another one to ID.....

I think this plant is at Howard Gdns. I haven't a note of it in my little black book. I can't find it in my books although I know you'll know this

Hi Glimbo, it is quite badly unfocused however, I suggest the Genus Myoporum. Where is Howard garden?

I'm thinking Sapindus indica from the leaves, but honestly never saw the flowers of this tree so do not know. Pic not too clear, if it were, the leaves would be sufficient to confirm.

Howard gardens are in (just outside) Mdina and it is likely that the tree is a Sapindus coz from memory I think there are a couple.

By the parking area at Mdina are also the "pampas trees" (??) the trees with a very gnarly trunk that look like they are thousand years old.

Here is a photo of Myoporum laetum which I think resembles Glimbo's photo (including leaves)
I did not know that the Garden outside Mdina is called Howard - thanks for the info.

... on the other hand the inflorescences looks as if hanging down, and in single numbers a characteristic against Myoporum

Strangely, the flowers are not shown too, the leaves are not very convincing when comparing this species against Glimbo's photo.

It's true that the link you suggest S.sap. is most definitely not the plant in Glimbo's pic.

The plant in Glimbo's pic is the tree we discussed in the thread linked to above, however it seems that the name we decided upon there (Sapindus indica) which it is apparently known by at San Anton, may not be correct.

Sorry about the picture quality on this one, I was looking at plants and trailing in my Mother's wake.....so I had to be quick about it!

I was looking again last night and wondering about Lichii chinensis, which I'm not sure at all that this plant is, BUT, of course it is the same family as Sapindus indica

Flowers were stellate and five pointed and the foliage was the light green that is captured in the image. I've attached another image of the foliage although, sadly I've no other 'photo of the flowers.

I think this confirms the family at least and with a little imagination this could be a contender.......

we still had this discussion in this year:
it is Harpullia pendula or H. arborea, but it is in all gardens wrongly labelled as Sapindus indica, but the name Sapindus indicus exists as a Synonym of Sapindus saponaria.[/i]

Glimbo, from my side I concord with jackpot's conclusion (well done JP/RB). The leaves are of the same light green colour and shape. I never seen the flowers of this tree yet while the fruit are more interesting and conspicuous!

Thanks for sending the link, that most decidedly is the plant that I have been talking about.

Now, knowing more about this species from your discussions last year, and from the images that Jackpot sent in the link, I have no doubt whatever that we are all talking about the same plant.
