The only thing that I can tell you is that we have Seahorses species in Malta (quite beautiful creatures indeed) and one species mention in the WildLife of theMaltese Islands is Hippocampus hippocampus.
Wasn't a population of the H. ramulosus killed off recently when someone decided to convert a rocky bay to a sandy one artificially? I forgot the exact location though.
