Are yo usaying that they are 15cm and 1ocm respectively?? They seem to be smaller in the photos and so maybe there is some metric mistake in your post.
Very interesting your pic- greenhorn you will laugh: together with my 2 professional botanists we study and discuss your pic. The opinions are
1. curious Fabaceae (I do not agree)
2. Oenanthe globulosa (I do not agree)
3. A Liliales-member (my doubtful opinion)
So, you see, we need more information. Questions:
a. is the whole thing one fruit from a 5-merous flower?
b. an annual?
c. flower was inconspicuous?
Answers for JP:
Could not find merous in the dictionaries. If You mean 5 petalae, the answer is Yes.
It is perennial.
It is conspicous, like You can see in Your last book.
no doubt, this is Malva parviflora ( 2 days ago I desribed this one for the next edition). Ok, I did not recognized that the fruit in your first pic was a pretty old one and not a usually known fruit as shown in your second pic.
Interesting the change of the calyx and hairs in those old stages (stimulating me for research as well as your pic of the Fagonia ) fruit.
