Cistanche???
This plant flowers in March, but I had to go home, before it completely opend. It is about 25 cm high and the stem 10 to 12 cm
in diameter. If it is a plant, which lives from others, it should live from Lavathera arborea.

The idea "Cistanche" came fron the relationship of the diameters
of stem and head. And the 3 Orobanche, I found till now, are smaller in all directions.
That O. pubescens in internet has the same colour, but they dont
speak about the measures.

Stems of O. pubescens are 15-50cm high. Many Orobanche that are reported in Malta reaches 40-60cm height according to Haslam's book. So lengthwise Orobanche is possible
Regards the diameter (12mm) some Orobanche have swollem stem bases. Many Orobanche usually have stems of maximum diameter of 8-10mm except Orobanche crenata (12mm)
Hope it helps

Hey- I am to young to comment on the species??
Greenhorn: to hairy for O. crenata and other ones, to big for O. ramosa ssp muteli and other ones,- I still stay on my first impression, but I have never seen young Cistanche in the wild....
