leucanthemifolius: Having leaves similar to plants in the genus Leucanthemum - the Oxe-eye daisies. (Latin origin )

Description, Habitat and Distribution
Habitat in Europe: Maritime sands and rocks; rarely inland
Preferred habitat in Malta: Garigue and rocky sites near the coast
Botanical Description: Subglabrous annual up to 40 cm. Leaves fleshy, pinnatisect; basal usually obovate, dentate; cauline leaves variously dissected, often coarsely pinnatifid, with entire to shallowly dentate auricles; Inflorescence subcorymbose with few capitula. Capitulum 15-22 mm in diameter. Involucral bracts 5-7 mm, linear-lanceolate, glabrous, black tipped; supplementary bracts several, up to 2 mm, usually blackish. Ligules c. 13, c. 8 mm, yellow. Achenes 2-2.5 mm, usually shortly subappressed-hairy on ridges.
Chromosome number: 2n=20
Distributional range: W. & C. Mediterranean region, S. Portugal.
