Do you remember
jackpot quiz 7? It was the flower of a sausage tree and finally in this quiz I showed you a picture from a tree from Florida with the sausages.
If you wish to see a sausage (not as large but large enough), you should have a look in the Lower Barrakka Garden- there is 1 fruit and, as far as I know, for the very first time in Malta (at least in the book about Malta`s Ornamentals which is still in press, Weber wrote that they never produce fruits in Malta possibly due to the absence of the special bats)!
But you really should have a look (worth seeing), up in the crown at the right hand side, good enough for a sausage-picture.

I keep it in mind and go with the camera. Tell weber no need of '

' - in nature exceptions occurs without exception

Maybe that at San ANton area , there are no bats due to lack of habitat, while at Valletta there might be caves and WWII shelters by the coast where bats can be present. ?!?

The funny thing is that we had a student lecture about
Kigelia and the Bignoniaceae below the tree, and 1 student detected the fruit after I followed Webers impression about never fruitening in Malta!
Btw il-Pine: I carried some dried german sausages with me because I know a Maltese lady who likes them, but finally I had to eat them by myself- may be next time another try or I put those much smaller ones next year at the tree!

Those sausages are truly delicious stuff, maybe we should try splicing pork DNA into
Kigelia africana for ready made bratwurst

Of course we'll need a huge supply of Koelsch as well to wash them down...

Hello, all of you,
About ten days ago I found the book “Ornamental Plants of Malta”!
Then I found this forum!
A day after I found the “sausage”!!!
Jiena persuna fortunata, mhux.
The fruit is hard to find, well hidden, it took me some time to spot it. Now, I know every single leaf

) of this tree.
The book is great! The only thing I miss are the maltese plant names.
Xi ħadd għandhu lista? So I would be lucky again.
Mela, I have to . . .
But sure I will come back again, now I found you.

Our website index page -
http://www.maltawildplants.com/SearchIndex.php
features many maltese names of native trees or common escapes Probably many ornamental trees in Malta do not have a good Maltese name either.

MWP: unfortunately not "probably" but "definitly"!
