Hi guys
Been some time since I posted a pic and here's something interesting I found yesterday - it cannot be anything but colus hirodinosus methinks - spotted about four of them in all at Rdum Majjesa

Definitely Colus hirudinosus, very nice photo. Was that picture taken in the morning? I don't see any flies buzzing around it yet

x'ghageb qed taghmlu!!!! - oh well lets face it i was --- pleased to see this as i never saw one before - the time i reckon was about 12.30 to one pm and the flies did not get to it but perhaps its because i was sweating bad at the time....!!! ha ha
actually its pretty small and easily mistaken for a skartocc and i have to admit ...my cousin spotted it first - and he's not especially into wildlife

Hi, just landed now on this post and I must say that it is really really a nice species and well photographed by Wolf.
I am stuck at home with the website progress and a new erand (sensar) - I miss Nature, however I have something hot in my pocket soon for you when i am liberated

Have you determined if it grows on a special host in Malta, ie some specific tree or perhaps a special habitat ?

No special hosts, but it seems to prefer grassy garigue or karst.
