Its head looks as if it belongs to some kind of hawkmoth. 'Death's head' type has extremely variable larval patterns, but then I don't see the 'horn' on its posterior which hawkmoth caterpillars usually have.

Best method would have been to collect the caterpillar with some of the lelluxa and wait for the adult to emerge...

Dear all,

It's been a long time since I posted my last comments....very busy period right now. The larvae is that of a Cucullia calendulae (Treitschke, 1835) a common species which flies between October and April. It's food plants are Calendula, Ormenis, Achillea, Anthemis .

The larva in the photo is in its fourth stage. I am attaching a photo of a fully grown caterpillar which I photographed last year near Kuncizzjoni...wonderful colours.
