Erythrina - q for JP

Post by RB » Thu Jan 25, 2007 5:35 pm

JP, since you seem to be familar with Ta Qali, etc... Do you have an ID on the Erythrina sp. found at the park?

Personal indications are indica or variegata, even though funnily variegata seems to apply also to non-variegated ssp.

There are also specimens close to Valley Rd/Bypass, easy to overlook/drive past however. I do not know if they are the same sp as there are no flowers on them.

Calamatta's book generally lists the commoner exotics planted in Malta, but he has a photo/name of corallodendron - and the Ta' Qali sp is most definitely not corallodendron.

Thanks

as far as I know there is only Erythrina variegata (E. indica is a syn.) in Malta.

Thanks, that's what I initially thought but was thrown off a bit by Calamatta's gardening book.
