I have photos of a Pennisetum setaceum specimen which shows longer culms and reddish (pinkish) spikes. Maybe it is variable that much? (Try to post a photo if I have time !)

Here is a specimen of Pennisetum setaceum.

Longer and reddish culms and larger plant, though size and colour are not always determining factors.

Maybe Pennisetum villosum ? ... a=N&tab=wi

Pennisetum setaceum may come in whitish inflorescences, but I did not say it is- I only said it could/should be the genus.
