I still find difficulty to distinguish betwen C. equisetifolia and C. cunninghamiana.
Moreover, in San Antoon there is also a certain Casuarina stricta - a misidentification or synonym?
According to “Ornamental Plants of Malta”:
C. cunninghamiana is similar to C. equisetifolia but the cone-like fruits are shorter, globular, only about 1cm long (C. equisetifolia fruits 1.5-2cm)
Casuarina stricta (label in San Anton Gardens) in OPM it is Allocasuarina verticillata. The plant can be distinguished from the Casuarinas by the sharp beaks of the cone-like fruit and shiny black seeds.

In general: To distinguish different species from the same gender - at least with trees (don’t know about other plants) you very often take the fruits.
Therefore, if a tree-specialist is asked to name a tree with many similar species the reply often is: “I’m very busy in the next time, and then I have ……. and therefore I will come sometime in autumn!”

...and regards the female trees I have a little excercise for Sigra, JP, RB and other based on the fruit.
Can you identify A,B,C from the image below against a metric scale (perhaps using OPM)?
According to my analysis:
A = 10.4 - 11.5 (1.1cm) globular
B (left) = 8.3 - 9.9 (1.6cm) cylidrical
C (left) = 5.4 - 7.0 (1.6cm) globular

Iva, kollox sewwa.
This is the logical conclusion (the only trouble is that nature doesn’t always follow our logical conclusions) of your analysis and the OPM-description.
Additionally you could have a look at the seeds.
C. equisetifolia = brownish winged seeds
C. verticillata = shiny black seeds.
