Tragopogon - Salsify
Anyone have any info about this plant? I saw this (did not have time to stop/photograph or even look at closely, so species unknown). I only ever saw in one location for the second year running. Here's what it looks like "at a glance":

Oops yes I read that somewhere, forgot!
Still, I think that it's too late seasonwise bec although I noted the plant and the only flower in passing, and had only an approx location ie within say 10sq m, I guess that I possibly may have spotted the closed flower/s too on the second visit, if there were any. Or maybe the sun was too bright
Even last year I had only noted ONE flower, there may well be quite a few plants
there but they either flower in turn
or there aren't many plants at all.

Taken yesterday, late afternoon. A respectable pop of these plants, numbering maybe 50 max, Qortin ta' Ghajn Zejtuna - Mellieha.
Still actively flowering, even if the peak is over - still a few flower buds on some plants. Must try visit a.m. but hey it is Mellieha after all, quite a drive from this end.
