Looking for the Archbishop's Palace-Rabat woods.
Managed eventually to find the Palazzo ta L' Isqoff--fantastic area for wild plants too. Sorry to see the ceiling has started to collapse in the last rains.
Outside are these strange markings in the cement--I wonder if they could be caused by ivy, since removed, digging into the mortar? A pleasant change is to see the "welcome" sign instead of "PRIVAT" "NO ENTRY" or " RTO". Nearby was a Pomegranate fruit ( Rumein?)

Do you mean Girgenti Stephen ? I dont think it is Girgenti as this has been renovated. I had a quick look on google earth and I think that the place Hulland is refering to is between Rabat and Dingli in the Wied ta l-Isqof. Have to wait for his reply.

Palazzo Tal L' Isqoff.
For anyone interested, this is the original palace that apparently was swapped for Manoel Island. The stone in its wall says "23 Augusto 1792". To get there;-
Follow the main road to Busket. Under some trees is usually a vegetable wagon on the right next to a small razzett. But nearby is a perfect marker--on the left is the welcome to Siggiewi sign-opposite on the right is the welcome to Dingli sign. I park here, but you can drive further and take this LEFT turn. ( the "Dingli" side).
Follow this lane until you get to another junction...head to the left a short way. Nearby on the right side, is a small wayside chapel--under the trees again. - Another parking place. - Follow this road for a hundred yards or so and take a left turn ( smooth tarmac but narrow) go along this lane and down a slight slope until you reach a fork in the road ( to confirm look for some green spray graffiti near base of wall) take a LEFT here and then follow the left track, head down a hill along the lane into the trees. First you will arrive at the modern building covered in Gebel Ta Sejjieh, with the welcome sign--walk past this and on the left is the old Palace, in the trees. Also notice the views across to Marsaxlokk too. Good luck- Ian.
