Well if you wish to spoil your day, you just have to read the Red Data Book ..... followed by the small article listed by the MWP. It seems that since 1989, at least 6 more species have become extinct - mostly dune species as one can expect. Of worthy I could figure out that the only species of hore...

First of all MWP, prosit! Your profile is as excellent as always. Don't worry robcar! Thanks for the new information you provided, we were just sort of joking :) Ophrys is a rather complicated genus - we still have to understand if our endemic species is really a species or a subspecies.... Besides,...

I agree with you all. The orchid group is probably the most researched area in the Mediterranean flora group. Thus, every variant in colour, size of flower, leaf etc becomes described as a new species. The variety of names and synonyms are a great number. I am quite a conservative person with regard...

There is a plant mentioned for St. Paul's Islands - I believe it is Parietaria cretica and it is only recorded for our islands from there. Wolf mentioned the Maltese Toadflax also from there. We should visit the islet.

I agree with you. For such a small islet, the rats must find food - in summer they might find some food and waste left by humans, but in winter they need to find other things to eat - and they end up feeding on lizards.

It would be another great loss for Malta.

Btw, if you discover a new plant species, call us! A Cremnophyton mifsudoi would be great, e MWP!
