I suppose that makes for cheaper maintenance, but shows a distinct lack of foresight or understanding of the environment.

Here's an interesting link - again from Wikipedia -

Yes MWP, Malta it is. Sorry for the mis-post, I misunderstood the title of the page - to me 'Flora abroad' means 'Flora around in Malta'. I should have posted on the ID page. :?

Cheers for the ID though.

Is this Linaria ?

I wasn't able to step off of the path and get up close to this plant at Dinghli Cliffs, where is was growing on the left hand side of the Chapel by the viewing platform.

My guess at this is [/i]Linaria vulgaris -?

If it was in a garden in the UK I'd have said Viburnum tinus. Did it have a scent MWP? Viburnums favour well drained soils here, and calceolareous conditions. Too much to ask that this should be V. tinus though I suppose - this plant is often used here for shade planting.

I guess all you can do is take cuttings whenever you can. You could have a go at the seed, if it's still present and in a fit state.

The virus would have to be 'stable' over a good few prop cycles before you'd know for certain that you were going to get a perfect result,( fit for cloning for the market). You can only rely on vegetative prop for reliable results - you'd have to scale the bulb, rather than sowing the seed. Mind you...

Getting practical popular support for the Legislation is the only answer I agree; but providing adequate policing for it is expensive and difficult for polititians to justify - particularly if they are not, themselves, committed to forcing the change. It 's an up-hill struggle to get people to report...

A TV programme would be the best way to get results, showing how the wildlife is affected and the whole balance of nature is disturbed, thereby indirectly threatening the tourist revenue and properity of the Islands. Also, you could get polititians involved in a campaign that shows them in a good li...

I agree with you entirely, it was a careless thing to say. I accept that there are folks who'll pick plants and fungi, whatever, but I had no intention of encouraging anyone to be irresponsible toward the environment. There are occasionally opportunities to legitimately purchase fungi, such as B.edu...

Green or pale yellow flowers? Any aroma from the leaves when crushed or bruised? Nettle soup perhaps? I find I'm thinking Choysia and Salix, but in a pot ... because it 's tender or invasive?.... and if not for culinary use for a natural remedy? and the height......... so .....many...questions.........
