is this a liverwort ?

Found this strange looking plant in a very damp and dark part of wied incita - sorry the pic is not up to much as it is not a very well lighted area ...so is this a liverwort or what - it is growing with some other moss in the vicinity

this is a case par excellence of "ONLY IN GOZO" It is good to note however that one PN councillor has publicly distanced himself and condemned publicly ( see the Times letters ) his fellow councillors including the mayor. yes Pine - you had me green with envy as I did not come because of the strong wind - and it took me about two hours to find it a couple of weeks later

pleasant valley if they only stop throwing sewage in it - Nature Trust has reported on this several times....

MWP / Victor It is good to note that after the above pictures were forwarded to MEPA ( not by me by the way ) MEPA today issued a press release ( see Times today 11 Jan ). I say it is a weak knee-jerk reaction by our supposed environment protector - shame on them. But at least xi haga iccaqalqet.......

thanks MWP - to be honest was not aware such " furry " mosses existed in Malta - cannot be very common I guess since they appear to need very wet and humid places - but then I could be wrong on this as well ...it really is not my subject

I found this nice mossy plant at wied qirda - pretty near the place where there is selaginella - but I dont think this is selginella ...so what is it ?
pine - you are usually the expert on primitives and mosses right ?

Curiously I found a few ononis natrix growing in the grounds of the secondary school at Mtarfa just yesterday - still in flower too.
Could it be there is also euphotbia characias in the area. I seem to recall someone mentioned characias at Mtarfa.
