I am almost certain I have located a spartium junceus bush near the imselliet school - see pic and tell me if you agree ...not exactly in the wild but close enough !

I seem to think my pic is Amni as carota is usually ( I think ) much more leeafy ....also carota I tend to think of as inhabiting seaside loacations or nearby whereas amni goes more for disturbed ground and sometimes garigue - am I correct where is Sdravko or the German experts when you need them ??...

agreed - a week back on telly ( i think it was the awful smash ) i saw offroaders doing just that - trials or whatever its called in a disused quarry ( looked quite large in fact ) at a place called tas-saghtar or satrija in mosta. Quarry sure had plenty of hurdles and looked like people were having...

conch - I saw a fair share of rabbit dung today at rdum ta qassisu next to paradise bay ...of course I was more interested in other stuff like good populations of gozo hyoseris / some really beautiful tamus communis and tiny polulations of coast sedum as well as some unidentified grass or small rush...

easy grass ?

one grass species which SHOULD be incredibly easy to identify but which has beaten me so far...this is almost always found in very dry areas of garigue and is mat forming - good stuff to sit on as it is very cushiony ...any ideas ?

found this tree in flower in gozo some time back - i am pretty sure it is ornamental and not native but i am still curious

ps. Sdravko - i found the lablab bean growing in another place in gozo too - this time it was on the edge of a field

no prob MWP - I know what you mean as grasses confuse me big time. Juncus bufonius however is easy to recognise in flower once you know what it looks like

MWP - your pic is not juncus bufonius though - have no idea what it is however
I have only found juncus bufonius very recently in rock pools at wied incita where in fact HC Weber indicates it is.

Further to my post above it is worrying to note that the single PN councillor who condemned this stupidity in public was withdrawn ( or perhaps he withdrew voluntarly ) from the PN list on Munxar. where did you find this review MWP ? It looks like it was published as a review when the book came out nearly 30 years ago. yes stachys grows there - but I for one will not be daunted from going down there whenever i like !!!! it is the rubus which worries me as it has become terrible down there ....
