to be honest have no pics of c.divulsa - I am just starting to look a bit deeply into carex ...u ha nghidlek thawwadt naqa !

lets complicate matters some more......I tentatively identified this one as carex distans but am far from 100% sure

carex - what a ksur is-s..... !

I agree completely re g. tomentosa ...it is such a bore and we shud really start eradicating it.....just last week i walked all the clay slopes between ramla and marsalforn expecting to find rare species and 90% of the flora consists of g.t ...thankfully it is not on the clay at qammieh where i was ...

some thistles are really beautiful stuff and worth sweating it out for... my favorite is scolymus maculatus - its stalk is like an armored dragon and its flower is quite a beauty too

more or less at the side of tamarisk border ...have no idea if there is / was more stuff behind tam.border but that area usually starts to have mixed vegetation if i remember correctly

sorry thats peplis not peplus 9 or is it the other way round )
problem is when i found it it was in 34 degrees temperature on a sweaty september day - all i remember is it was midway thru the dune on the first " hill" above the "plain" and was very visible - all other deatails are lost in sweat

I had great difficulty trying to recognise chrysanthemum segetum this weekend in Gozo and took various pics which eventually turned out to be coronarium ( min iridhom jghiddli qabel nideletja kollox !! ) - so is this it ( note leaves ) and are the petals alway - hekk - sort of curved - I seem to rem...

if it grows mainly in water and is large ( one metre or more ) then it could be typha domingensis - in maltese buda ( very appropriate )
this plant ( if my id is correct that is ) is on the increase and tolerates pollution - so not very nice to see it on the increase

btw one VERY strange thing at wied incita last sunday was one plant of clematic cirrhosa in flower !!! remember this usually flowers in oct-dec ....weird !

thanks...guess I will have to look up wildlife of the maltese islands book ! yes good camouflage but water was very dirty too - most rock pools at incita are polluted unfortunately

water bug

this looks like conchiolin territory - a sort of water bug sharing one of the few remaining wet rock pools at wied incita with a couple of huge frogs ...any idea what it could be ? I would say it was a good 3cm in lenght

Yep I think you are correct on this one - one of the few grass species I could identify after doing comparisons on the net

grasses are a pain in the derriere however...

where I shot pic there is also another some distance off very near houses there if you know the place so these must be cultivated - i have often heard of a few at buskett but never seen them and suppost there is / are one/ a few in wied tal-kalkara though god only knows x'sar minnhom hemmhekk !!! wolf
