Quite a strangely colored bug! Personally, I have never encountered one, and is neither picted on any of my local insect books! As far as I know praying mantis lay their eggs in a mass of bubbles which then harden an become papery.
I think that they are butterfly eggs, as they seem to be quite large in size, although I am not certain!!

I think it is a nymph Common Green Bush-cricket, Phaneroptera nana.
It is said to be Frequent in our islands and grows up to 3.5cm. Its main habitats are wooded areas and valley bottoms.[/i]

Yes, I agree with IL-PINE. I have also seen it growing extensivly next to the old Danish Village Hotel (near the Red Tower- Mellieha) as an undergrowth under the trees. It also occured at Wied is- Sewda some years ago, which seemed to grow wildly, but it was then destroyed by fire if I'm not mistake...
