never try to identify them from one picture, they are too difficult. several pics plus herbarium specs in flower and fruit and even than im often confused, expecially with the suffruticosa group.

plant one is a cultivar of Bassia (kochia) scoparia, plant 2 is Dodonaea viscosa

would say its quite rare but i have only a few months experience in Malta trying to avoid roads. it might look more frequent to a biker than to a hiker .

calendula are variable and im not very good at them but this one looks like arvensis. why do you think bicolor grows in Malta?

to give you a hint about the location, they are extremely difficult to photograph. the specimen in st anton are quite unusuall but i never studied them.
i never understood why all the other passiflora are so rare in Malta, expecially the edible ones. they are delicious and as beautiful as coerulea.

since they grow very slow they are expensive. what amazes me is the obviously large proportion of fertile seeds considering that male trees are extremely rare in Malta.
dont eat the seed, you stomach will burst. you can eat the stem of some sp but dont upset the gardeners at st anton.

once i photographed a chorisia fruit in st anton and although it was on the end of a thin, long twig 3 m above ground it wa nibbled by rats. though i hate them i have to admire them.

considered it but dismissed it quite early. still sure its Iochroma but unable to decide on the name of the cultivar.

or Robinia Sasque Rouge.

now you can save a lot of money on presents for Finnland. the best thing is, you remove the seeds from Malta and in Finnland they are not invasive.

very mildly invasive (think i saw one young ind which may not have been planted under some old ones) at Ghar Dalam, much less mildly invasive in Tenerife. you can plant it, almost everything is 'mildly invasive' that does not mean you have to avoid everything.

yep, usually they are not as dark. cant remember if i ever saw a Maltese in flower so dont know if your colour is normal in Malta. regarding the 'sp' bananas have been bred and hybridized for such a long time, its difficult to speak about sp but some name even the cultivars as sp.
