Remarks :

For long this glasswort species was known under the name of Salicornia ramosissima but taxonomic research have revealed that the description of this species by J. Woods (1816) was invalid due to improper designation and hence not accepted according to botanical nomenclature standards. The name Salicornia appressa which was validly published by the Belgian botanist Barthelemy Dumort (1866) is the legitimate taxon next in date for this plant.
