Further Information:
Another species of African origin first observed in Gozo in 2005 and breeding in 2007.
The mature male has a deep metallic violet thorax and abdominal S1-7 are of the same colour, while the eyes and S8-10 are a deep red. It has red veins and an orange patch at the base of the hindwings.

Females have a yellow abdomen and a white and yellow thorax, and a black dorsal mark on S8-9. They too, have a yellow patch at the base of the hindwings.
Immature males look very similar to females.
