Further Information:
These pair of dragonflies are mating and in the photo they are in tandem postion. In this postion the male grabs the neck of the female using his appendages at the tip of the abdomen and then if the appendages locks onto the female (thus proving that the female is of the same species, the male proceeds to copulation with the female. After copulation they remain in tandem for some time to assure that no other male dragonfly copulates with the female.
