Taxonomical Classification:  Animalia / Arthropoda / Insecta / Homoptera / Aphrophoridae

Further Information:
This is insect produces a mass of froth which is also called cuckoo spit. This froth or foam is produced by bubbling some plant sap using the anus for this process. There are a various species of Froghoppers in Maltese Islands although they haven't been studied well yet. The froth protects the nymph from dehydration and predators or parasites. Note that the highest jump by an insect was that of a frog-hopper, it measured 70cm with an acceleration of 4000m/s overcoming G-force of more than 414 times its body weight.
