Orthetrum trinacria  Selys, 1841

Further Information:
A large (around 60mm) species of African origin, and relatively new to the Maltese Islands.
Mature males are a deep blue/slate colour, while immature males and females have an olive/yellow ground colour and are marked in black.

The pterostigma is large and pale in colour. It is easy to identify as there are no other similar species on our Islands.
