Loxosceles rufescens  Dufour, 1820
Main synonym = n
Taxonomical Classification:  Animalia / Arthropoda / Arachnida / Araneae / Sicariidae
Mediterranean Recluse Spider     Maltese name not known
Further Information:
Though recluse spiders are known for their potent venom, Loxosceles rufescens bites are only known to have severe effects in individuals whose immune system is already compromised. This spider is not aggressive and prefers to flee from a threat rather than waste its venom; however, the species should not be handled and bites should be treated immediately.
