Further Information:
A monoecious species with male organs are borne on small branches at the base of the shoot and female organs being capsules on slender setae. Shoots 2-5mm long bearing broad leaves with a thickened border. A distinguishing character of Fissidens incurvus is the distinctly inclined capsule. Related species include F. bryoides, F. limbatus and F. viridulus. It prefers calcareous peaty or clayey soil in open habitats.
