Further Information:
The Figure of Eight is an European moth of the family Noctuidae. The name is given for the bright markings on the forewings which resembles the figure eight. The wingspan is 30-40 mm. The larvae feed on various deciduous trees and shrubs, mainly Sorbus spp., Prunus spinosa and Crataegus spp. Crataegus azorolus is the species shown in the photos below.
