Taxonomical Classification:  Animalia / Arthropoda / Insecta / Zygentoma / Lepismatidae
Giant Silverfish, Gray Silverfish     Kamla tad-djar
Further Information:
The silver fish is a very primitive insect. These insects usually live indoors feeding on starchy materials example book pages, clothes, glue and flour or cereal. A house makes a perfect habitat for this insect. Silverfish can live up to 2 to 8 years. The silverfish moults a number of times. (Some even up to 70 times in their life-time) The silver-fish mates by the male depositing a spermatophore and then the female using the spermatophore to fertilize the eggs. Sometimes they cause extensive damage and may be considered as an indoor pest.
