The common field grasshopper, is a species of grasshopper found across Europe, much of Asia and North Africa. It is common in garigues and dry and often sparse grassland, from the beginning of summer until October. Very hairy below the thorax. Song consist of short shirps like time-signal pips.
Before it was known as Corthippus spp. but the Genus was recently split into Corthippus and Glypotobothrus. In Malta 2 species are recorded - G. brunneus and G. mollis which can be idenified from their song and wings.
