Further Information: An easy weevil to identify from its bright red-carmine colour, often with few white dots and yellow marking on the side. Dead specimens, such as herbarium collections, will turn almost black. Length 8-13 mm. Larva feeds on Erodium species. Distribution: central and southern Europe, Middle East, North Africa. Not very common in Malta. |
